Welcome Spring!

Writer's picture: Michelle C.Michelle C.

As the seasons shift, so can the chapters of our lives. This spring, the Carnes family is embarking on our most significant journey yet - we're moving!

Over a year ago we felt called to leave the Snoqualmie area where we called home for over 20 years. And during this past year, we struggled to accept this calling. Snoqualmie is where I renewed my journey with Young Life 15 years ago by joining committee and becoming the Area Director a few years later. Hundreds of kids Shawn and I have led through the years in Young Life at Mt Si High School and surrounding middle schools. Snoqualmie is also where we raise our kids who are now 22 and 19. Early on we helped plant a church that we still attend. So many friends who have become family. Making this decision was not easy.

Where are we headed? Well, that's still a bit uncertain. For now, we're drawn towards the Chelan Valley to support under-resourced communities. While Chelan is known for its beauty and bustling summers, our time overseeing the area has shown us the depth of its diverse communities in not only Chelan, but also Entiat, Orondo, Manson, and more!

Will you pray with us?

1)    Pray for the future sale of our home and that we can get what we need to afford a move.

2)    Pray for our adult kids as this is a big transition for them too.

3)    Pray for Shawns tile and remodeling company as he starts the process of rebuilding his business in a new city.

4)    Pray for clarity in my role with Young Life as I move closer to the areas I currently serve, begin to serve the area of Chelan Valley, and consider other ways to serve the Young Life Mountain West Region.

5)    Finally, pray we find housing. With summer approaching this isn’t exactly the best time to look for short or long-term housing in that area.

We stand in the full knowledge that God is leading in this direction and has a plan for us!

Would you also pray for two of the areas I serve?

1)    After re-developing the Kalispell YL Area over the past 8 months, we have 6 committee members and 5 leaders in place serving Glacier and Flathead High School. During this past week, I have been leading interviews for a new Kalispell Area Director. The team is planning a wiffleball fundraiser on June 8th.  This area is on the cuff of taking off!

2)    Deer Park WyldLife has 32-36 kids coming to Friday night clubs. The area’s biggest needs right now are to grow the 3-person committee to 5+ members, complete a successful BINGO fundraiser on May 18th, and grow its leader teams from 4 middle school leaders to 6. In addition, Deer Park has a nearly sold-out camp at Creekside this summer!

We are incredibly grateful for God's work in our lives and for all of your support!

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF OUR

FRIENDS AND FAMILY
