TRAFFIC REVISION AHEAD

Recently we had a YoungLives lunch after a local St. Patrick's Day Parade. YoungLives is Young Life for teen moms. On this particular day it was super windy, and as I was putting out an A-board for the event, it kept knocking over in the wind, so I propped it with a construction sign by the road. Immediately this struck me and I stood back to take a photo.

Traffic Division Ahead.

It felt symbolic—like a little nudge from the Spirit. Just as that sign warns of a change in direction, construction, or disruption on the road ahead, our lives and ministries are also in constant revision. We're always learning, pivoting, and adapting to better walk with teens and love them well. Ministry isn’t static. Neither are we. God is always doing a new thing, and sometimes, it takes the wind knocking over your plans to remind you that He’s the one building something deeper.

“And we all… are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18

Whether it’s the structure of our programs, the pace of our season, or the shape of our own hearts—God continues to revise, refine, and renew. Maybe your “Traffic Division Ahead” is just God’s way of saying, I’m still at work here.

Just like that unexpected sign reminded me, ministry often means navigating change—adjusting our course, holding things up when the wind knocks them down, and trusting that God is directing the traffic of our lives. As we keep moving ahead, revising how we show up and care for kids, we see God at work in both our hearts and theirs.

I would be so grateful if you'd pray with us through this season of movement and growth.......

  • There’s been a recent influx of young moms in the Chelan Valley, and with it, a growing opportunity to love and support some of the most vulnerable young people in our community. As someone who is new to YoungLives, I’m learning just how challenging it can be to reach these young moms. Many say they’ll come but don’t. They’re often timid, overwhelmed, and navigating a brand-new season of life at such a young age.

Would you join us in praying for these young moms, and those who will become young moms in the future? Pray that each one would be KNOWN by a caring mentor and come to know the deep, unconditional love of God—for themselves and their babies.

  • Pray for Young Life Club at Chelan High School! With several clubs now under our belt, I’m reminded just how important it is to pray—pray that students show up, and that in the short time we have with them, they hear the good news of Jesus.

It all starts with a warm welcome, an Otter Pop, and an invitation to stay for a bit. Then comes a short message, a raffle, and just like that—it’s over. It’s simple, it’s quick, but this is where God has called us to start Young Life!

  • Pray for Manson High School! Every Thursday, we roll in with our table, sign, and games as the staff has come to recognize our familiar setup. On one particular day, we had the joy of meeting five new students - bold, curious kids who jumped in for a quick “Minute to Win It” game.

It may seem simple, but these small moments open the door to connection, trust, and eventually, conversations about faith. Pray for more moments like these and for the courage of kids to keep showing up.

  • Pray with us for two key upcoming events in Manson! On April 6th, we’re hosting an interest meeting to share the vision for Young Life and WyldLife in the Manson community. Then, on April 10th, we’re launching a WyldLife Club—our first step in restarting ministry at Manson schools.

Ric Chavez and I are excited to host both events and can’t wait to see how God moves as we work to reach more kids in this community. Pray that the right people come, that hearts are stirred, and that doors continue to open in Manson!

Above is Ric Chavez at our recent WyldLife Club - Ric joined our staff a few months ago and we have been training and working together all school year!

Thank you for your continued prayers as we serve students in both Chelan and Manson. There is so much to celebrate—and still so much ahead. We’re grateful to have you alongside us in this important work!

With gratitude,

Michelle Carnes
